Well, I finally proved it to myself tonight. With the proper hacksaw blade, you can cut slate tile at home.
It's called a 'rod saw'. It's essentially an abrasive rod.
Took me about 5 minutes to cut a 12x12 tile, and it really wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be. It's just a game of patience. I sawed most of the way through, the just snapped off the piece by rapping it against the ground real quick.
So now both of my girls are on slate. I totally cleaned and rebuit victoria's cage today. A new hide, slate tile, new humid hide. I hope she likes it! I'll put up some pics later.

If I had a dremel, I would have tried it. But I don't feel like spending the money. Maybe for x-mas.
Yeah, yeah. I'm lazy! I'll do it sometime tonight.
